Spring Station Middle School's Mustang GLOW 5k registration is up and running, so grab your running shoes and get ready for April 21. Activities will begin at 7 p.m., with the 5k starting at 7:45 p.m. There will be music, concessions, glow face-painting, an inflatable obstacle course, door prizes and, of course, glow products for sale. The Heritage Middle School theatre department is taking audiences out-of-state by bringing Getting to Know Oklahoma! to the HMS stage. Centered on the classic rivalry of cowboys and farmers, Getting to Know Oklahoma! is a Shakespeare-esque forbidden love story that is sure to entertain viewers. Tickets can be bought at the HMS gymnasium doors before each show for $10 per adult and $5 per student. Nolensville High theatre is going out of this world with its spring musical, Starmites HS. Become part of the story as shy Eleanor goes to her own little word, literally. With intergalactic conflicts, flamboyant villains and charming characters, Starmites HS can appeal to almost everyone. Tickets are $12 per adult and $10 per student. A childhood fairy tale and a Disney favorite, Beauty and the Beast will come to life onstage courtesy of Fairview High School. Watch as Belle breaks from her provincial life and meets the Beast, and see your favorite characters take the stage for a night. The Walk Across Williamson Challenge is back for its 10th year. Beginning March 1, students, family members and Williamson County Schools staff are encouraged to track their activity with the goal of achieving 1,800 minutes. Those 1,800 minutes represent the 90-mile distance across Williamson County. Using an activity log chart available on the Williamson County government's Walk Across Williamson page, participants can track their active minutes and then turn them in to their participating school or using the link on the Walk Across Williamson page by April 2. The Harlem Wizards are bringing their high-flying act to Fairview. On March 11, the Wizards will go toe-to-toe against the Fairview Fury basketball squad, which will be comprised of Fairview area educators, students and community members. The Harlem Wizards are known for their ability to entertain the crowd with a variety of basketball tricks and alley oops. They also aim to get the crowd involved, often bringing children out onto the floor to be part of a basketball trick or a comedy act. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. It may only be the beginning of March, but it's time to start getting excited about this year's Encore Camps. Eleven elementary schools will host Encore Camps during the summer of 2018. Anyone wishing to register should contact the school they are interested in for more information. Encore Camps are open to students from outside the district as well as family or friends, but priority will be given to Williamson County Schools students. Below are the dates of each school's Encore Camp. Please note that Scales Elementary's Encore Camp will be held at Lipscomb Elementary due to construction.
Rev up your golf cart and find your caddie, because Sunset Elementary School is hosting its fifth annual golf tournament. On April 9, the Sunset Elementary PTO is hosting the tournament at the Governor's Club in Brentwood. Players can register at the Sunset Elementary School PTO website. The cost is $150 per player or $600 per team of four. The money raised will benefit the PTO. The package includes green fees, golf cart use, beverages, hole contests, a gift bag and lunch and dinner.
