Williamson County Schools has continued to look at ways that we can increase the level of security in our schools and ensure that we always know who will be visiting our buildings. We have appreciated your support as we have added some new security related practices this past school year. Our annual parties have been an area of concern for schools district-wide because of the very large number of visitors that attend on these days. This year, we will have two parties in December and May. As usual, the lead room parent for each class will organize the food and activities for the class. The district has decided to designate two parents per class per party to attend and assist with running the party along with the classroom teacher. Our PTO Board Members will also be on hand to assist on these days as well. Parent party volunteers will have to remain with their designated class throughout the duration of the party and cannot attend other parties. This is a district-wide change and will be implemented all elementary schools. We encourage you to look at all of school events that are open to parents and visitors and consider attending an event maybe you haven’t come to in the past because you were waiting for party day.

Music Programs:

All music programs in the 2019-20 school year will be held during school hours.  All visitors are required to check in at Gym doors, sign in, and present valid photo identification to staff.  There will be no exceptions to this policy.  Thank you for helping us to keep our school safe!

Discipline and Threats:

We work hard to create a positive school climate that is conducive to learning and where students feel safe. Our students are well behaved and respectful, and our teachers work hard to encourage them each day. If there is a child with ongoing behavior concerns, we take a comprehensive approach, work with the family, and try to provide the resources necessary to help the child to grow in a positive manner. In today’s culture and climate, we have to take any kind of threat of harm to self or others (verbal, written and/or online) very seriously. If your child makes such a threat, it will be carefully investigated and could lead to a suspension. If a student threatens to harm himself or herself, parents will get a phone call from us immediately. We are asking you as parents to have age level appropriate conversations with your children to ensure that we don’t have any threats of any kind this coming school year. We have very few concerns related to this at Lipscomb, and it’s always been something we handled with caution. Going forward, however, the disciplinary action related to these behaviors may be more serious than in the past.
