Mill Creek Elementary Counseling Services
Mill Creek Elementary School offers a wide variety of counseling services. From whole class instruction to meeting individual student needs, the Guidance Department provides resources to help each child be and achieve their personal best.
Our Guidance Counselors are available to meet with students one-on-one for individual counseling needs.
If you feel that your student is in need of additional support to reach their potential socially, academically, or personally, please email Mrs. Finch or Mrs. Rioux to express your concerns. We want Mill Creek Elementary to be a safe environment for all students, emotionally and physically.
Our Guidance Counselors also meet with small groups of students on related topics such as, but not limited to: divorce, grief, and anxiety – as determined by the needs of student population.
Small groups of students (typically 3-6) who have similar needs meet throughout the school year with one of our Guidance Counselors in order to develop personal skills. This helps the students understand that they are not alone in dealing with difficult situations and that they can support each other. Small groups typically meet 6-8 sessions.
Our Counselors also teach Guidance classes as part of the Specials rotation in the library to K-2 and 3-5 grade levels alternating every-other rotation with Library classes.
Guidance lessons are based on Tennessee State Standards and focus on general areas of personal/social development, academic success and career introduction. Specific lessons are structured on topics such as, but not limited to: bullying, safety, careers, and character development.
