Oak View Special Classes
Throughout each week, students participate in a variety of special classes as part of their daily schedule. These classes include physical education, art, music, library, and technology.
These classes help extend student learning to the arts and athletics. They allow us to deepen understanding of classroom lessons, as well.
Welcome to Physical Education at Oak View Elementary! The aim of our physical education program is to develop and improve students’ personal fitness and motor skills.
We provide developmentally appropriate activities through purposeful, creative, and enjoyable instruction. By incorporating challenging yet achievable tasks, the students will attain positive attitudes about physical activity and movement.
Throughout the year, we teach students a variety of games to increase their physical stamina and strength. We also teach about tennis, football, basketball, volleyball, and more.
Music is a vital part of the Oak View story. In class, students are able to experience and play a variety of instruments while also tapping into their vocal repertoire.
Each grade level performs their own program showcasing their musical talents. The dates for 2018-2019 are available on the Oak View calendar.
Art is an engaging course that students eagerly participate in each week. While learning basic and abstract techniques, students are able to tap into their artistic side to design masterpieces.
Students learn skills that develop each year, studying topics including color, shape, form, perspective, shading, and more. At the end of each year, students proudly display their favorite piece at the Oak View Fine Arts Night.
During our special class rotation, students have a technology class. This class allows students to use computers to explore typing and programming. They also dig deeper into classroom topics with the use of computers and other technology.
Once during each rotation, students have a library class. During this time, students hear stories, learn about library skills, practice study skills, and also explore STEM activities. Children also have the opportunity to check out books.
