Coordinated School Health
Coordinated School Health (CSH) connects physical, emotional, and social health with education through eight inter-related components. This coordinated approach improves students' health and their capacity to learn through the support of families, communities and schools working together. Coordinated School Health works with many partners to address school health priorities. Simply put, healthy students are better learners.

Health Science Students Explore WCS Heart Healthy Bus
Williamson County Schools, in collaboration with Williamson Medical Center, proudly unveiled its new Heart Healthy Bus September 22 at Independence High. The bus will travel from school to school throughout the year to provide "heart-healthy" training supplies to WCS students and staff. After the ribbon was cut, representatives from Williamson Medical Center joined students in the IHS health science program for CPR training, blood pressure screenings, AED training and "Stop the Bleed" demonstrations.
Coordinated School Health Activity Bus
Loaded with lots of fun games and activities, the bus will travel to each elementary school in the district with the goal of getting students to be active and healthy.
Tennessee’s Coordinated School Health Initiative
The Tennessee Department of Education works in collaboration with the Tennessee Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to implement Coordinated School Health (CSH) in Tennessee. Based upon passage of The Coordinated School Health Improvement Act of 1999, Chapter 554 and the subsequent 2006 Public Chapter 1001, CSH was created and funded with state budget dollars to implement CSH to all school systems in Tennessee. Funds support the development of a local infrastructure to promote health and wellness for all students and staff and thereby decrease barriers that prevent students from achieving their full academic potential. For additional information visit The Department of Education Coordinated School Health website.
SOAR into Student Academic Achievement with a Free Game of Mini-Golf
Elementary students have many opportunities this year to earn free games of mini-golf. Students who achieve a letter grade of “A” in any one subject on their report card and/or are recognized by a staff member earn a free game of mini golf to be redeemed any time before June 30, 2024 at SOAR Adventure in Franklin. This is also true for students in Kindergarten and first grade who receive either a “3” or an “S” in any area of their report card. Students will receive a "ticket" to take to SOAR Adventure to be redeemed for the free game. One parent or guardian must be with the student or group of up to 5 total students. Parents or guardians do not have to play if they do not want to, and there is no charge if they do not play. If they want to play, they can pay the adult fee and play along with the students. Students will have the opportunity to win up to up to 4 free games, one per grading period!
