Summit High Fall Sports

Fall athletic teams begin practice during the summer months before school starts in most cases. The fall athletic seasons runs from the start of school until November.

Cheerleading

SHS cheerleaders are dedicated to maintain enthusiasm, promote and uphold school spirit, develop good sportsmanship at all athletic events, as well as provide support and encouragement for all school related activities.

Expectations

Athletes will have the opportunity to cheer through two athletic seasons, football and basketball.  During football season, athletes will practice 2 times a week and will cheer under the Friday Night Lights.  Once basketball season begins, athletes will continue to practice together 1-2 times a week, and will be split into a “Blue” and an “Orange” group.  The basketball season will then be divided in half in terms of game “coverage.”

Cross Country

Expectations

During the season, they will practice at least once a week depending on how many games are scheduled. During the off season, team members are expected to participate in individual workouts.

Tryouts

There will be a mandatory Cross Country meeting in the cafeteria on May 21, 2019 at 6:30 PM. If you plan on running next year, please make plans to attend this meeting.

Football

Expectations

During the season, they will practice 4 days a week with games on Friday nights. During the office season, team members are expected to participate in conditioning from January – July.

Golf

Expectations

During the season, they will practice at least once a week depending on how many games are scheduled.  During the off season, team members are expected to participate in individual play.

Golf tryouts are scheduled for July for the following school year.

Soccer, Girls

Expectations

During the season, they will practice at least once a week depending on how many games are scheduled.  In the off season, team members are expected to participate in conditioning from May – July.

Tryouts

Girls Soccer tryouts are scheduled for the following days and times:
June 2, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM
June 3, 2019 from 4:15 PM until 5:45 PM
June 4, 2019 from 4:15 PM until 5:45 PM

Tryouts will take place on the Summit High soccer field.

Volleyball

Expectations

During the season, they will practice at least once a week depending on how many games are scheduled. During the off season, team members are expected to participate in work outs from March – May and June – August.

Tryouts

Volleyball tryouts and evaluations for all new and incoming players will be held May 23, 2019 to May 24, 2019. Tryouts will be held in the gym from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Tryouts for all players will be July 22, 2019. Tryouts will be in the gym from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Practice Schedule

Practice will take place Monday through Friday, July 22, 2019 through August 1, 2019. Practice will be in the gym from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. There will be no practice Friday, August 2, 2019. Practice will resume Monday, August 5, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Parent Meeting

There will be a parent meeting on July 24, 2019 at 6:00 PM in the main gym.
