The Sunset Middle School Counseling Department maintains a comprehensive school counseling program to meet the developmental needs of students in grades six through eight.
The school counselor plans and coordinates activities that promote academic, social, and emotional growth among the students at Sunset Middle School. The counselor works with the Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program with the three expectations: Responsibility, Respect, and Best Effort and encouraging positive behaviors with students. In addition, the counselor guides students through grade transition, positive behavior lessons with teachers, and career education activities.
The counselor helps coordinate programs such as orientation for new students, Career Fair, transition to high school, academic support, testing, and screening for academic placement. One-to-one, small, and classroom group guidance sessions for students are also offered.
The Sunset Middle counselors and staff are dedicated to helping students succeed in middle school and making the transition to high school. Please contact counselors or staff with concerns or questions.
