Fall Athletics

Most fall athletic teams begin practice during the summer months, before school begins. The fall athletic seasons runs from the start of school until November.

Fall sports include cross-country, football, golf, tennis, soccer, volleyball and wrestling.

Cross Country

Grade Levels:

6th, 7th, 8th Boys and Girls

Expectations: 

Students will run approximately 1.5 miles on a variety of courses. A meet team will be selected based on the top ten female and top ten male finishers.

Boys Soccer

Grade Levels:

6th, 7th, 8th Boys  (JV and Varsity)

Expectations: 

Typically, games are held on Tuesday and Thursday, with a couple on Monday.

Middle school soccer consists of eleven players versus eleven players. It is played with a size five ball and full size goals.

Tryouts: 

Parent Meeting: Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 5:00 PM in the theater.

Tryouts: Monday, September 30, 2019 and Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM

1st practice will be Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 3:00 – 4:30 PM.

In order for a student to tryout, they must turn in a copy of a valid physical. They are valid for a year from the date listed on the physical. FinalForms registration must also be completed with all parent signatures.

Schedule:

Boys Soccer season runs from October through November.

Girls Soccer

Grade Levels:

6th, 7th, 8th Girls  (JV and Varsity)

Expectations: 

In order for a student to tryout, she will need to .have all parent signatures completed in Final Forms and have a current physical on file with Coach Hedges. (There will be no make-ups for not having Final Forms completed and/or your physical on file.)

Parent Meeting: Monday, September 16, 2019 at 5:00 PM in the auditorium

Tryouts: 

Friday, September 20, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. (As soon as school is dismissed.)
The team roster will be posted on the back gym door at 7:00 PM, the day of tryouts.

Schedule:

The season begins with practice on October 7, 2019, when school is dismissed.

Expectations:

Prior playing experience preferred. Must have sports physical on file to tryout.

Expectations:

Students must have a current sports physical on file. Workout Attire: white t-shirt, black shorts, cleats, and tennis shoes.

Tennis

Grade Levels:

6th, 7th, 8th Boys and Girls

Expectations:

The tennis teams generally consist of 8 – 12 players. In each match, there are 7 positions that play scored matches. Three single positions and two doubles positions. Players are ranked and play according to their ranked position. Players are selected for the teams based on the coaches’ evaluations of their skill level and their match play.

Tryouts:

Girls: May 24, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Summit High School’s tennis courts.
Girls Make-up: July 15, 2019 at 8:00 AM at Summit High School’s tennis courts.

Boys: August 6, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Summit High School’s tennis courts.
Boys Make-up: August 9, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Summit High School’s tennis courts.

Wrestling

Expectations:

Mandatory Parent Meeting: Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 5:00 PM

Spring Station wrestling provides both boys and girls of all skill levels the opportunities for physical, mental, emotional, and social development through the sport of wrestling. We want our wrestlers to strive for success in all aspects of life, developing their character, confidence, discipline, work ethic, mental toughness, and to become a FAMILY.

Tryouts:

We practice weekdays 3:00 – 5:30 PM, on days that we do not have matches or tournaments.
