Three components play a critical role into every WCS student’s educational program: a solid curriculum, effective instruction, and quality assessment. Curriculum, derived from state standards, defines what students need to know. Instruction is the practice of teaching each student that curriculum. Assessment is used to measure the student’s progress and mastery of what is being taught.
Most of the information on these assessment pages refer to academic testing, but student progress is monitored using many other assessment data as well. Attendance records, motivation levels, engagement and interest levels, social skills, classroom participation, etc. all help complete the picture of how a student is performing. All of this data is used to systemically evaluate progress towards each student’s set goals.
