The Sixteenth Annual World of Possibilities Career Exploration Day will be held Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Williamson County Ag Expo Park. This comprehensive career day is being held to better inform eighth grade students about career opportunities available. Williamson County and Franklin Special School Districts recognize there are specific workforce needs for Williamson County and Middle Tennessee. We are taking an active role to introduce students to career opportunities and other emerging careers by offering more career education within the curriculum. The World of Possibilities Career Exploration Day is an excellent strategy for getting students authentically engaged in learning about careers.

You and/or another representative from your company are invited to participate in the “2017 World of Possibilities Career Exploration Day.” This will be a great time to publicize and educate for your organization.

If you are interested in participating in the event, please submit your registration online by October 16.

If you would like more information regarding participation in this event and promoting the careers within your organization, please contact:

Rebecca Collins, Career Counselor for Career and Technical Education
Williamson County Schools, 615-472-4063

Hospitality room/lunch provided for exhibitors.

No fee required to exhibit, but you can be recognized as a Career Exploration Day sponsor by contributing $200.00. Fees collected will help cover the cost of hospitality, signage, exhibit set-up, transportation, and other miscellaneous expenses.

Purpose: To have local business and professional community leaders give students the opportunity to explore the world of work in relationship to the student’s individual interests, skills, work ethic and post-secondary choices.

The audience: Approximately 3200 eighth grade students will attend.  Students from Williamson County Schools, Franklin Special Schools, and home schools are invited to participate. Most have completed career exploration curriculum at their schools.

Student participation: The students will interview 3-5 career role models while at the career exploration day. The majority of the career role model interviews will be with professionals in career areas in which the student has shown an interest. The students are also encouraged to conduct interviews with professionals in career areas which the student is not interested or knows little about this field.

Exhibitor participation: The exhibitor will serve as a career role model for the students.  Students will visit an exhibit prepared to interview the career role model. Students will be prepared to ask the exhibitors questions. The exhibitors will not only be prepared to answer questions regarding education/training requirements, job responsibilities, and salary, but will also provide an activity within the booth that will help the career “come alive.” Examples include but are not limited to dressing in “uniform;” demonstrating tools, instruments, and computer programs/software; playing videos, etc.

How can you support the World of Possibilities Career Exploration Day?

You can help to make this Career Exploration Day a reality for students. We are seeking:

  1. Exhibitors as career role models
  2. Donations or Sponsors for transporting students to and from the career fair
  3. Donations or Sponsors for drapes and table rental
  4. Donations or Sponsors to cover hospitality expenses
  5. Donations or Sponsors to provide programs and maps
  6. Donations or Sponsors to provide signage
  7. Donations or Sponsors to cover other miscellaneous items

The fee to become a sponsor is $200. Sponsors will receive visibility/recognition for their support through signage and in Williamson County School District’s electronic newsletter InFocus. The company will also be listed on the Williamson County Schools web site and recognized during the Career Exploration Day.

In addition, participants may find future employees who are skilled and interested in becoming a contributing member of their organization.
