Writing essays is a well known hassle. However, there are tips and tricks to make things easier.
“There are different forms of writing… you’re not gonna write a lab report the same way you would write an analytical essay,” says Mrs. Folks, the literacy interventionist and a writing specialist. You must be aware and do research for the structure of you essay. Next, “go through the steps of writing:”
- Take notes
- Fix Vocabulary
Also, “You need to be familiar with the topic… you need to read or collect material so you are knowledgeable about what you are writing,” Mrs. Folks said. It is impossible to write an essay that you know absolutely nothing about.
To add onto the last step, vocabulary, she said, “Experimenting with language,” but “get your ideas across clearly.”
- Mrs. Folks says, “If you’re struggling with your topic and then write something about that and eventually you’ll get to where you need to be.” If your essay is on cats, write one sentence about cats and your essay. Then, build from there.
- Working with someone is very helpful.
- “If you can say it, write it.” If you’re talking to someone about your essay, whatever you can say to them about it, put it on your paper. Write as you would talk.
- “The best way to write is to read and write.” Reading and writing outside of school help tremendously with school essays.
